Overview

The V5 is a portable electronic device specifically for reading applications. Its stable, high-brightness makes for excellent readability both indoors AND outdoors. The 5-inch e Ink display (EPD) contains 800 x 600 pixels (200 ppi) and supports 8 levels of greyscale. The product has a SD card slot on the top of the device, memory extension up to 16GB. Connection to PC/laptop: via USB-cable.

The USB connection is also used for charging the device. It feature the Epson controller for advanced display capabilities.

The V5 is a very low power mobile device, specifically designed for reading applications. The operating time of the rechargeable battery is about a month without recharging, based on an average use of 300 pages reading a day. The device supports multi-level directory management.
There are 10 dual purpose number keys, next/previous buttons on the left side, a cancel/ok split button and a scroll wheel (also for next/previous) on the right edge.

PDF and ePUB support is provided by Adobe Digital Editions and will include DRM support.

Description:
1.Support fonts change in MOBI READER.
2.Update HTML parser, TXT parser and PDB parser.Notice: MOBIREADER support replace outside font library.
Method:1). Put font library in SD:/fonts/ under index or built-in/storage:/fonts/ index2).
The name of the font library should abide by:
XXXX.TTF
Normal fontXXXXBI.TTF
Bold italic fontXXXXBD.TTF
Bold fontXXXXI.TTF
Italic fontOrxxxx.ttf
Normal fontxxxxbi.ttf
Bold italic fontxxxxbd.ttf
Bolf fontxxxxi.ttf Italic font

The file name should be all in capital letters or small letters and the 4 font libraries should be complete. Otherwise it will be regarded as non-complete font library, and won’t be displayed in the list of MOBI READER font library.

2) Unzip the file into EMPTY 1GB SD CARD (Provided by Jinke)

4) Press the Volume + and power at once.
5) When you heard the "Beep" sound, just let the device update itself ... :)

SDHC Class 6 IMPROVED your eBook speed

Just came back from Taiwan and bought

Kingston SDHC Class 6 4GB card (Made in Taiwan)

I copy all the ebook (460mb) together with the slow ebook (.lit) files.

Once i on the device and read books, the "Next Page" turning speed is really fast, especially for the .lit files, it took 5 second to go next page on normal SD card

But for me, 4GB SDHC took only 1 second to go next page.

So, what are you waiting for ?? Go to nearest PC Fair and try the SDHC CLASS 6 4GB

( i bought it for NTD 2600, around RM30) hahaha, CHEAP !

e-ink屏电子书阅读器已经不可避免的成为电子书阅读器产品中的主流，e-ink屏以超省电的技术，同时又以不菲价格让大家又爱又恨，购买了e-ink屏电子书阅读器的朋友也更要爱惜自已的宝贝。目前的主流厂商，国外的sony(prs-500,prs-505) ，亚马逊(kindle)，伊利亚特(iRex iLiad)，国内的翰林(v3,v2,v8,v6)，宜锐(starebook)，汉王(N510)使用的都是e-ink屏，这些产品也是使用最普遍的产品，学习保养自已的宝贝是非常必要的。

e-ink屏的日常保修主要有以下几点：

一：重中之重是防压。e-ink屏的厚度只有1.2mm，iLiad是在上面加了一层wocom的手写板，抗压性要稍微好一些，其它的产品就没有了，只有加个硬皮套等方式来保护屏幕。如果你没买硬皮套，那么赶紧买一个吧，几千块都花了，不要省那几十块。万一压坏了，6寸e-ink屏，换一块要1200，差不多够买17寸的液晶屏了。iLiad是8寸，就更贵了，2000块，不怕一万就怕万一。

二：e-ink屏的擦拭。无论是什么产品，时间一长难免会有灰尘，手机屏脏了，用湿抹布擦一下就行了，拜托大家不要这样擦e-ink屏，更不要用有水的抹布，有酒精的棉签之类的刺激性液体擦e-ink屏，最好是用干的软布来擦，比如眼镜布。擦的时侯注意不要太用力，记着，你不是在洗车。

三：给e-ink贴上屏贴。一路书香网站刚推出电子书专用屏贴时，一些同行到处给用户说“贴屏贴没必要、浪费、是心里需求”等等风凉话，这是一种典型的文盲说法，这些人都是只知道卖书，而不是一个电书爱好者，不能从用户的角度去想问题。他们并不是不想提供屏贴，而是无法提供屏贴。因为市场上目前像手机屏贴那种通用的尺寸，需要请屏贴的厂家订制生产，订制不是一张两张就可以生产的，需要相当大的量，对于一般的打游击的卖家，当然不可能去生产屏贴，那怎么办呢？自然要找个借口了。我想大部分朋友可能已经注意到，那些以前说屏幕不需要的，现在居然都开始卖屏贴了，前后矛盾，自欺欺人。但是请大家注意，屏贴也要分的，用机器开模切的屏贴和手工裁的屏贴是两回事，手工自已割的屏贴不光滑，四条边毛糙，没有正规的包装，贴起来效果也要差一些。e-ink电子书阅读器真的没有必要贴屏贴吗？笑话，几百块的手机大家都要贴上屏贴，随便到外面看一看，很多人的笔记本电脑屏幕，台式机的液晶屏幕都贴上了屏贴，连键盘这么坚硬的东西还有专用的保护膜呢。为什么e-ink屏不贴上一块屏贴？贴上屏贴，可以有效果的防止灰尘，增加抗压性，擦拭屏幕的时侯，哪怕是有点湿的软布也没有问题，水不容易接触到屏幕。别担心影响阅读效果，好的屏贴是不会影响阅读效果的。iLiad的官方网站有一些爱好者讨论是否要给iLiad贴屏贴的贴子，以下是原贴地址，大家可以去看看。http://www.irexreader.cn/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=538&extra=page%3D1

四：别把e-ink当触摸屏用。看到很多朋友拿到电子书阅读器，一开机就习惯性用手往屏幕上点，这些朋友大概是触摸屏用多了。e-ink屏不是触摸屏，切记，如果你不想屏幕很快被你点坏掉，就少用手去点它。

为何翰林V3??

翰林V3的出现，彻底打破了这一局面，翰林V3还没有上市，就被业界炒得相当火热！其实翰林V3是一款针对国外销售设计的产品，在国外销售半年以后，2008年1月的元旦假期上班后，正式向国内经销商供货。翰林V3以2000多的价格、E-INK屏、直板机、9mm的厚度、10几种格式的直读，迅速成为最热门的机器！并在2008年整整一年的时间里，成为最抢手的机器！

虽然2008年易博士、汉王、sony等厂商都有推出新的款，遗憾的是但是没有一款能和翰林V3一争高下。翰林V3凭什么能在2008年一统天下呢？其实也很简，因为在所有产品中，只有它最接近用户的需要！我们一起来看看翰林V3有什么值得让人追捧的地方：

1、外观不错。虽然翰林V3的设计和做工远不如sony的prs-500和prs-505，但是和翰林以前的产品相比，却有了极大的改善。是一个里程碑式的飞跃，绝大多数用户可以接受！

2、支持格式超多。翰林V3在支持了PDF,TXT,HTML,RAR,ZIP,JPG,WOL,DOC,DJVU等等一共15种格式，这是目前任何一款产品都没有做到的。支持格式多，意味着能在它上面阅读的图书就更容易找，而且不需要转换。它连RAR/ZIP也可以直接解压，对于很多网络上下载回来的小说，原来就是RAR或者ZIP的压缩包，无需在电脑上解压，就可以直接在V3上，非便方便！

3、使用了E-INK屏，2006年就有电子阅读器使用了E-INK屏，E-INK屏以其不闪烁、白底黑字、保护视力、待机时间长等优势深受书虫喜爱。对于书虫们来说，能很好的看书，又不用天一盯着电脑，还保护视力的产品，自然不能放过！

4、待机时间超长！由于使用了E-INK屏，使得V3的待机时间能超过几个星期，如果使用诺基亚的原装手机电池，待机超过一个月不是问题。这是使用其他LCD,TFT屏幕的机器所不能比的。

５、电池可以自由更换。现在像易博士M218A/M218B、汉王N510/N516、iRex iLiad等绝大部分电子阅读器的电池都是固定在机器里的，无法自行更换。如果电池待机变短、电力下降，只能掏钱返厂了。翰林V3却是使用了诺基亚BL-5C兼容的手机锂电池，并且可以自行更换、在市场BL-5C的兼容的锂电池遍地都是，几十块钱一块！这一点有效的降低了用户后续的使用成本！

主流电子书阅读器为什么都没有背光？

目前在售的电子书阅读器中，除了少数低端产品有背光外，绝对大多数都没有背光，很多感到很迷惑，怎么越贵的产品越是没有背光了？有背光的产品：博朗EV880，博朗EV980，博朗其他型号也都有背光，但是停产。翰林U3A,U3E其他如：翰林V3/V2/v8/v6/v9 ，iLiad/iLiad 2nd/iLiad book Edition ，SONY PRS-505 /500 ,Kindle, STAREBOOK, M218A/A+/B 等全部没有背光，这不是大家商量好的，而是有种种原因。

一：原理就多作解释了，大家可以查得到相当屏幕的资料。一句话，那就所使用的屏幕材质(e-ink屏或者无背光TFT屏)，决定了无法使用背光。大家又会问，那为什么不使用能做背光的屏呢？问得好。因为带背光的屏伤眼睛，耗电量高，待机时间短，用手机、MP4、PSP看书的朋友就知道，在阳光，灯光下，那是一种什么样的效果。

二：电子书阅读器的定位问题。电子书阅读器主要用于移动阅读，比较注意用户的使用体验，绝大多数转向专业电子书阅读器的人，都是因为手机/PSP/MP4/PDA等设备伤眼睛，容易导致视觉疲劳，不专业。如果电子书阅读加上背光，就会和其他设备一样，等机时间会缩短，其便携性就会大大降低。

三：电子书阅读追求的目标是类纸阅读，为用户提供看纸书一般的感觉，而不是定位于半夜在没有灯的房间看书。四：电子书阅读器是不是完全没有办法做背光？绝对不是！！IBM笔记本都在屏幕上方加上LED灯，可以给照亮键盘方便输入。任何电子书阅读器也可以脱离屏幕本身，而在屏幕周围增加LED灯，达到照明的问题。但是这样的设计和理整电子书阅读器行业的发展方向背离，另一个也会增加很大的功耗，导致待机时间变短。而我们使用E-INK屏却是因为e-ink屏在不翻页时不耗电、更加像白纸的感觉，可以大大加强待机时间。所以说这是一个矛盾。

虽然我们解释的不够专业，但是大家只要能明白为什么主流的电子书都没有背光的原因，我们的目的就达到了。有错误之处，请大家谅解！！

翰林V3为何在国外比中国还要便宜？
很多朋友在津科的官方网站上看到翰林V3卖到国外是299美金，折合人民币比国内还要便宜！我们经常接到老外的咨询，又无从解释起！这是最近一个在中国工作的外国朋友的邮件：

One question, the price of the erader in the website is 299USD. I have noticed that with the exchange rate you are applying is more expensive. According to the Bank of China exchange rate today, the price of the device should be around 2.050RMB…. Even though you want to cover the price against the exchange rate evolution it is too much. The RMB and the USD are quite stable….

老外在邮件最后还给出中国人民银行的汇率查询地址，言外之意，感觉我们在欺骗外国朋友一样！我们国内的朋友也同样有这种疑问，其实作为国人，这是很好理解的！

其一：299美金，是裸机的价格，其他的皮套、SD卡、充电器、SIM卡之类的什么也没有。这些都是需要另外付费的！

其二：你只能是在国外通过汇款的方式才可以，如果你在国内，哪怕是付美金也不行。因为这涉及到出口退税的问题！国内的朋友很好理解，国内的工厂很多都有出口退税的政策！津科就是这样，所以你只能是在国外通过汇款到公司账号，才可以申报出口退税，你直接在国内付美金，没用，退税拿不到。就算卖到国外便宜一点点，政府退税的钱也可以补贴回来！

其三：这这个价格是不含运费的，要知道从国内发货到国外，一台V3的邮寄费用就要40美金左右。这是需要用户自已支付的！就是说哪怕你是在国内的外国朋友，你也只能通过从国外汇款到津科，将货发到国外，你再带到国内，这样才可以享受299USD的待遇！
如果只看299无疑是比国内便宜，如果要算下来总金额，是比国内要贵不少的！而且随着全球金融危机的到来，相关的出口部门都在鼓励出口，并加大了出口退税的力度！

为何iRex电子纸在国内比国外要贵？
另外iRex iLiad也是同样的情况，不同的是一个进口，一个出口！　欧元跌得这么利害，很多人就要问了，折合人民币这么低，国内也应该降才对啊！事实又刚好相反。如果你从国外带一台机器回来，可能没什么问题，海关那儿蒙一下，也许就过去了！但是如果走正规渠道进口，情况就不一样了。

一：关税。不会因为欧元、美元跌了，关税就少了。从国外过来的关税是一笔不小的数目！

二：进行认证。电子产品从国外进口过来，除了国外的认证，国内还要求进行一系列的类似于3C认证之类的检测，否则就是不符合标准，无法进口。这些检测认证的费用，并不是一笔小数目，这些费用自然是要分摊到成本上去。面对国内市场并不活跃的情况，这个成本又无法很快分摊完！iRex Book Edition迟迟难以进入国内，就是因为这个原因。一款不同的产品，需要重新送检，取得认证。所以需要考虑到市场的情况等诸多因素！

三：进口到国内的iRex产品，保修和售后服务都是国内，要建立国内的售后服务中心，维修中心，人员培训等都是需要相当的成本！

从各方面综合看来，价格比国外要贵是很正常的事情！直接和国外的价格比较是没有什么意义的！类似的情况，在很多很多进口产品上都看得到！　阿根达斯在国外是什么档次？很普通的东西。可是到国内，一支冰淇淋也要几十块，上百块钱！国为他要取得中国的食品准入资格，那可不是像国内厂商这么容易的！
